Interval Meditation Timer
A quiet bell can be a checkpoint: hear it, notice where attention went, and return to your chosen anchor. This timer starts with a twenty-minute session and a bell every five minutes.
Ready
Your screen may lock automatically, but the timer will keep running.
Choose the interval for the job
Select Change below the settings summary, then choose Every 1 minute, Every 5 minutes, or Every 10 minutes under Interval bell. Off leaves only the opening and closing bells. Try five minutes for several minutes between cues, one minute for frequent reminders, or ten minutes for broader blocks.
The interval is measured from the start of meditation, after any preparation countdown. A twenty-minute session with a five-minute interval has checkpoints at five, ten, and fifteen minutes, then the closing bell at twenty. There is no extra interval bell at the exact end. If your interval is as long as the whole session, you will hear only the opening and closing sounds.
What to do when the bell rings
- Let the sound arrive without rushing to change anything.
- Notice one thing happening now: a thought, a sound, or a point of contact.
- Return to your anchor, such as the next ordinary breath.
- Continue without deciding whether the last block was good or bad.
You do not need to remember every bell. If you miss one because you were thinking, noticing later gives you the same opportunity to return. The sound is a reminder, not a score. If you begin waiting for the next cue, try a longer interval or switch it off.
Use checkpoints to change the practice
You can also assign a different task to each block. In a fifteen-minute sit, spend five minutes feeling the body, five noticing sounds, and five returning to breathing. Write down the sequence before starting so you are not reading instructions throughout the session. Keep changes simple enough to remember after a single bell.
Pausing and choosing a sound
Pause freezes both the session and the spacing to the next checkpoint. Resume continues from that point. Reset ends the unfinished session without adding it to your completed practice record. Settings are locked while a session is active so an accidental tap does not change your plan.
The three sounds have different textures, and your device volume matters more than their names. Try them at a low volume before sitting. Background playback depends on your browser; when you return to this page, the displayed time resynchronizes. A browser that suspends audio cannot promise an audible checkpoint while it is suspended.
